Simple Mic solution for audiophile 2496

Hi,

Could anyone recomend a good quality mic to connect directly to the audiophile 2496 without the need of preamp, mixer, phantom power, etc.

I just want to do some decent recordings of my saxophone without being sorrounded by cables, gear, etc.

No, sorry, but the 2496 inputs are line level. A microphone does not generate enough output to connect directly to a line-level input without amplification.

As a follow up, why would you not want to be surrounded by gear? mmm... gear.

You will atleast require a preamp to amplify the mic signal before recording. This applies for dynamic mics. But if you want to use a condenser mic, you would need phantom power to power up the mic and a preamp.

Get a VTB1 and an SM57.

Or an Audio Buddy. Cheaper than VTB-1 and doesnt sound much different for my money honestly.
