Simple demos

I am looking to make simple demos (4 trax max) that I can put onto a CD via my PC CD recorder. Right now I just have a 4 track cassette tape that I would have to take somewhere to put on a CD. Is there a reasonably priced recorder or software that will enable me to end up recording to my CD recorder?

If you want to record directly onto the CD Recorder, you'll need something with a Digital Out, S/PDIF or something.

Otherwise, the easy way is to play the 4-track tape and feed the output into the input on your PC soundcard. This will record it as WAV format. Watch out for hiss, though..
Then you will need a program that can burn CDs (Nero is a good one).

I take it that you don't have a CD recorder yet. First off, if you have a decent sound card already then you'll need recording software. SoundForge XP is about $30 or $40 and will allow you to record stereo audio and do some editing on your tracks. Once you have them in your PC as wave files you can send them to a CD burner. They're getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. I'd imagine one could be had under $200 and CD-Rs are $.50 a piece.
