i want to plug my rode NT-2 into my sound card in my computer. i was thinking about getting an SB-live soundcard (still haven't decided yet). and going from the mic to the art tube mp, then into a compressor/limiter, and then into the pc. what would be the most inexpensive, yet decent way to go about doing this?
thanx

Sounds like all you need is a cable. You already have a preamp(art) and a mic(rode) right? Just get a 1/4" to 1/8" cable and your set. Compress if you like, another 1/4" to 1/4".

$5 should do it for the 1/8". SB Live, $50.

What is useful though, is being able to split the left right input of the soundcard. If you need to record more than one mic at once, or want to do some stereo processing down to tape. Cheap to build, project box, 2 1/4" female connectors, some wire and 1/8" male stereo jack. 2 1/4" inputs on the front of the box out to the 1/8" stereo that goes to your soundcard.
