I was messin with my friend Ernie (Ball). I've never had much use for the D-Tuna but I was codgitatin and I believe that the thing would be more useful to me if I had 5 more. I'm thinking why the heck not just put one on every string? Detune the whole guitar in a jiffy?

Weird, stupid? Would be some pic wouldn't it?

OK, shuffling off back inside my box.

I once had an idea to have a separate whammy/trem lever for each string. Once the 80's ended, though, it seemed like a less viable invention. :p

Those things already cause enough tuning problems on their own. Imagine multiplying that by six.

Hipshot makes a fixed bridge, however, which will give you three options for each sting.

Hey thanks Light. At first I was just jokin' 'round. I don't have much use for the D-Tuna as it is myself but that bridge looks cool. Have you seen it work? Looks like a tempting mod to make to one of my Strats.

BTW, those Xtenders look pretty neat as well.

Sonny Landreth had one on a Les Paul when I saw him play with John Hiatt recently. Definitely helped with quick change slide tunings.

Sonny's a monster, isn't he? I saw him with his own band (The Goners) in a roadhouse in Lafayette a few years ago; I talked to his guitar tech and got to see that instrument close up. It's the first time I ever saw one of those gizmos or knew they existed. It made the tech's job a whole lot easier; Sonny used to require a guitar tuned up and ready to go for each and every tuning he uses, and there are a lot of them, and he (the tech) would have to be standing there ready to swap them virtually every song and then check the tuning on the one he just took from Sonny before putting it back on the rack. Now, he just has to have the backup guitar ready in case Sonny breaks a string.
