Ok, I am recording a five piece band with 2 vocals, 2 mic'd amps, a direct bass, and mic'd drums, + 1 direct acoustic guitar. I am going into a 20 channel Yamaha powered mixer set on the lowest setting of operation which is 100 watts. the levels are very low while we are playing, I am coming out of my mixer via the REC OUT RCA connections into my Delta 1010LT's RCA INS. Recording everything as 1 track. I am using Vegas 4.0 to record with, I have tried several different input settings on my Delta Control Panel and can't record without major clipping. It's like my signal is way too hot for the software program but I can't turn it down any more and still be able to hear what we are doing. Once I do record a track the playback is very low volume!

The key here is the phrase 'powered mixer'.

Those are fine for PA, terrible for recording. If you are plugging the main outputs of the mixer stright into your soundcard you may have fried it already.

Set up the powered mixer for monitoring and get a small Yamaha or Behringer to handle the recording.

Anywhere from 40 to 150.00 bucks. I suggest a yamaha MG 10/2 for 99.00...

I agree that a powered mixer is not ideal for recording. But since you're using the "rec out" outputs, you should at least be able to get a reasonable "off the PA board" mix. I think the problem is that your levels are not set correctly going to and from the computer.

Open the Delta control panel. Go to the "Hardware Settings" tab. See the sliders in the box marked "Variable Input Signal Levels"? Try adjusting them. Select the "Outputs" radio button to adjust the output levels.

HTH,
Don

Ok, thanks for all the help so far, "in-line pads" I'm not familiar with this, does this have anything to do with the pad button on each of my mixer channels? I have adjusted my sliders in the delta control panel, maybe I just need to tweak more.

Just to be clear -- there are sliders on the "Mixer" tab, and there are sliders on the "Hardware Setup" tab. I was talking about the ones on the "Hardware Setup" tab.
