I want to be able to still record when the volume is turned down on my speakers, but be able to send the signal to the users headphones and still be able to hear the music while recording. What could i get besides a patchbay that does something similar to this?

Instead of a patch bay wouldn't you want a multi channel headphone amp? and your monitors would be governed through your mixer?
I don't know I can't sleep at night either.

Switch off the speakers and wear headphones too?

Dual ganged pots of the right value?

Samson C-control?

Mackie Big Knob?

Mixer with separate control room and headphone levels?

Build a separate control room?

There's already a variety of good options mentioned...
...but how about you just turn OFF the monitors rather than adjusting whatever single volume control knob/button you are currently using? :)

That way...he headphones still get their signal...and the monitors don't matter...they are OFF. ;)

The way i have it set up it wont work that way. The volume is sent from the usb interface to my monitors, and the input of the usb interface goes to the output of my mixer, and my headphones are on the output of my mixer headphone jack. If i turn down the volume of the usb interface, then i have to volume on the headphones. That is what im trying to work around :) But yes thanks, I will check out the headphone amp.

what specific pieces of equipment are you working with?
Specifically, what is your usb interface and what is your mixer?

Also, I'm still not entirely certain why you can't just turn your monitors off if you don't want to hear them while recording.

I still can't sleep.....but how about sending the headphone mix out of an aux on your mixer.
