sidechain

might sound stupid... but oh well.

ok - i have cubase SE and i'm wondering if i can do this (i'm no expert here at anything i'm talking about)

from what i understand, there is this thing called "sidechaining" in which you can set up a certain track(s) to reduce in volume when a certain other track reaches a provided threshold. mostly used for like, when a voiceover comes over a backing track in a commercial, or i guess the entire band when a harmonica solo comes in or such.

first of all - i have the term right, correct?

so my question is - does my cubase SE have some type of function like this? if so - where?

i'm not asking for a SPECIFIC thing i'm doing - i just get aggrivated sometimes writing automation when i need a little lead snippet that comes in repeatedly when MAYBE its possible just to use a uniform drop/increase.

thanks.
