a spoonfull weighs a ton
I've got four drum tracks, Kick, snare, and a left right mix of overhead and toms. The problem is the "kick" sound coming into the left right mix. There is this ugly ugly overtone at about 155HZ from the kick in those tracks. When I EQ it out, it kills a lot of the drum sound (the floor tom especially. i like to hear that low resonance) So I was thinking it would be good to use the kick track as a sidechain to trigger a multiband compressor set at the frequencies I want to cut, and really limit the heck out of them. Could this work?
NOw I'm trying to figure out if I even have the tools to do this. I'm working in software (Cubase) I have Waves C-1 plus, which is multiband compressor and gate, works very well. But I don't think that I can use another track as the sidechain to trigger the gate. doh!
Is there any way to do this? Is there such a plug-in that ccould do this?
