sibilant sounds damn it!

anybody have any eq tips on sibilent sounds without using a key input compressor (already tried this and do not like the outcome, kills the dynamics). any comment would be greatly appreciated, apologies for any spelling mistakes if there are any, in a bit of a rush.
 
De-esser. Digital Fishphones "SpitFish" is a favorite. Otherwise, you can hook up almost any maul-the-band compressor to make a half-decent de-esser.

The problem with keying a compressor is that you're still compressing the entire signal - You're just keying it with the problematic frequencies. A de-esser will only compress the problematic frequencies.
 
I keep arround a dbx263a to run tracks through with sibilence problems...it helps with fret squeaks too.
