Shure SM58S - Counterfeit or not?

Hey,

I've just registered on this forum, and pretty much only to ask a very simple question. But before I do, let me explain the matter:

I've recently bought a Shure SM58S (SM58 with an ON/OFF switch) from an unauthorized Shure dealer. Having seen countless guides how to recognize a counterfeit, I almost came to the conclusion the one I got is an original indeed. There is, however, one thing that made me hesitate.

I've compared features like font, dimensions, presence of mesh beneath the metal grill, labels above pins in the connector, box content and even wires colors - they all are, according to the guides I've read and seen, proof of the mic's originality.

However, the thing that seems to be out of place is a caution sticker beneath the windshield. My question is as follows:

Is it possible for Shure SM58S to have the caution sticker on it?

I may provide you with all information, and even pictures if needed. I'll be more than grateful for any help on the matter.

I'm afraid I can't give you an answer about the sticker.

I don't know how useful this is but there are two surefire ways to spot a fake.

It was new, but very very cheap.

It sounds bad.

I'm saying this because i bought a 58 with an on/off switch ages ago.

It was £18 and sounded like crap. Case closed! lol.

I can't verify this, but I just found something on About.com about halfway down the page:

Look at the capsule on the top of the microphone. On fake SM58, you'll find a "CAUTION" sticker wrapped around the capsule head. This is not on authentic microphones.

Does anyone know if shure or an authorised distributor will verify the authenticity of a mic for a customer?

I'd urge you to report a seller of counterfeit goods, but not until you're completely certain it's fake.

I've sent an e-mail info@shure.com, but all I got in response to my simple question about the sticker presence was
If you bought from a shure authorized dealer. There is no way of getting counterfeit.Take it to dealer nearest your location.

Can't blame the customer service for not knowing the smallest technical details, though... I guess.

Yes, I've read that guide as well but I have no idea how recent it is. It might be that it's almost 2 years old, like this video guide (can't post URLs yet), and that Shure actually DID put stickers on their newest SM58S (or a similar scenario). That's why I ask - and once again, if there is anyone who is an expert on this subject, I can upload very detailed images of both the mic itself and the box/it's content. I just need to know if it's worth the hassle.
