I've got a garage band...and i found a deal on a sm58, but i'm not sure if it would work with the equip. i use. Right now I use a cheapo mic and run it into an amp. What do i need to do to be able to use the sm58 with the amp i use now.

Does your amp have XLR inputs? If so, you'll just need a mic cord (two XLR connections on each end, will always be male to female). If it only takes 1/4 inch TS or TRS (guitar cords), then you will either need an XLR cord and an impedence adapter, or an XLR female to 1/4".

It sounds like you're using the 58 for vocals. If you use it for anything else, for micing amps or recording of pretty much any type, take the windscreen off (I think it unscrews). It's like having an sm57.

If you can get the same "deal" on an sm57, get it instead. IMHO.

the amp doesn't have xlr inputs. so i need to get a XLR Female to 1/4" or a XLR cord and an impedance adapter? does it matter which one? which one is cheaper? and oh yeah...do you go to U.N.A. by any chance?
