Shure preamp compatability (using SM83a w/ SM91)

Today I was going through my old AV graveyard boxes and I came across a bunch of SM91 mics with out their preamps, then I came across several SM83a preamps with no mics.

the sm91 has a three pin (mini XLR?) connector, the SM83a preamp has a 4 pin T4AF connector. It appears that the 4 pin connector has 2 of it's pins soldered together.

Is there any reason the 83a preamp would not work well with the SM91?

I just do not want to hunt down the parts and assemble custom cables if they would not work well.

Thanks

I'm not familiar with these mics, but from a little basic research it looks like each mic needs its own proprietary external amplifier to make it compatible with the usual phantom powered xlr input of a recording preamp. It doesn't look like these preamps, from the circuit schematics, are in any way either electronically or mechanically compatible. So unfortunately, I think you are SOL, unless you can find the corresponding parts elsewhere.
