quick question. I bought a Shure AXS 1 microphone about a year ago without making any research on it...anybody familiar with this microphone? Is it decent to record vocals on my PC?

Hmmmmm...

Kingbuzzo,

I did some research on the AXS-1 at the Shure website. There
is no such product according to the company's listings. Are you
sure (no pun intended) about the mic's manufacture? Also if
you purchased it new, it should have some information with it
or at least a description on the body of the mic, like a tag,
plate or something stating what it is- condenser or otherwise,
and its pattern- figure-eight, omnidirectional, cardioid, etc.
If it is a wireless mic, its information may be on the reciever
unit too.

If it looks like a vocal mic, give it a try. Test it first through a
PA system before you try it on your computer, the results
will tell you how well it'll work as a vocal mic, where your
critical distance is, its sensitivity,etc.

Here's hoping it works for you. Depending on the brand and what you paid. Unless you're into a high-end large diaphragm mic, like
a Neumann U-87 or a Shure KSM-44, a mic is not a high-ticket
purchase, but one definitely deserving the consideration of being
thoroughly researched as if it were.

Good luck and happy hunting,

looks very similar to a sm58, but doesnt quite have the frequency response...both are dynamic mics with a cardioid pickup pattern.....the sm58 has a 50-15k frequency response and the AXS1 has a 80-12k....the best way to tell if it will work on vocals is to plug it in and record:D

I BOUGHT AN AXS4 A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. IT'S PRETTY GOOD .
I LOOKED ON THE SHURE WEBSITE TOO A WHILE BACK, THEY AINT GOT NUTHIN'.
