Shure KSM44 for drum overheads?

Tried a pair of KSM44's for overheads on a drum kit. Gave a big sound, but we ended up going with a couple Shure SM81's instead. They were thinner sounding, but the drummer preferred that to the sound of the KSM44's.

So does anyone have experience with the KSM44's as drum kit overheads? In what scenario would you consider those as an option to get the sound you want.

Honestly, I never thought of the 44's for drum overheads, but the head engineer wanted to try them out. I think it's a great mic for vocals, acoustic guitar- actually any acoustic instrument. Very warm mic.

Used one for a room mic once...I bet they would sound nice for a 4 mic setup{1 kik ,2 snare ,3 L OH ,4 R OH} as L/R overhead...
