Whilst we're here I wanted to ask, Is the beta 57a better on the snare/guitar amp cab than the original 57. Worth the moola?

I dont have much experience with this mic but my impressions is that the hyper cardiod pattern just gives it more off axis rejection?
I did use this once in a live performance and the snare came out really nice one a live cd they gave us not much different to my ears then a sm57.
