shuffle tracks

anybody figure out how to shuffle tracks?

i.e. move track 3 to track 7's location, at which point track 7 becomes track 8 and track 3 becomes track 4.

You can't unfortunately. This is a pain that you can't just insert a track in between two. Maybe they will put it in in a patch hopefully.

The only way to do it somewhat is to right click on the track and drag the files around to where you want them.

that's not fair.

some days i'll praise cooledit for its ability to function harmoniously with my intuition, and other days I'll curse it for its ridiculous weaknesses.

I use version 1.2a

In the left hand column where it lists the track names with the panning positions and relative volumes, you can right click on the track name, drag it vertically and place it between any two tracks you want. You'll see a white bar show up between the two tracks where it will end up.

You can right click on the track and drag it around but none of the track settings go with it..

Yes, I know how to do this, but as it is the secret to my masterful recordings, I will protect this secret process with my life.
