Hey guys. I am looking for a few tips on improving my studio setup. Post some pictures of your studio so I could have a look.

Here are some pictures of my setup right now:
(You will have to sign into your myspace account.)

And if those last 2 pics are your mixing station, I would think about some treatment behind where your monitors will be, and maybe an acoustic cloud over top to help control it and some bass traps in the corners. Pretty cool start tho. :)

Are those amps both really "Valve" amps? :p

Just giving you a hard time.

Seriously, you can see alot of stuff like this in the "Studio Building and Display" forum.

hmmm...is this just a ploy to up your myspace views? hmmm....

:D

but seriously dude...how do you listen to your mixes? where are your monitors?

yea... I'm in the process of getting some monitors...and yea... my amps are not top notch but Im just a kid...*excuses*

What the hell is a Myspace and why would I want to join?

Wait! I've got to join a club just to see your pictures??

Nah, forget that. There are plenty of pictures over in the Studio building forum.

No..you see....I was just wondering why you refered to them as "valve" amps. ;)

valvestate...as apposed to tube amps......sorry...must have got the wires crossed on that one.

Valve means tube.

In the UK, they would call it a Valve amp.
In America, they would call it a Tube amp.

Same thing.

If you're just a kid how the hell did you afford all that stuff? Mics aren't cheap. As a suggestion I'd take a senheiser 609 over a 57 any day however everyone should have at least one 57. Set up looks good. Sound panels look to be in good position. If I showed you my set up you'd laugh.

I share time with a friend I met in San Diego who built his own studio. He built the floating floors, did the sound proofing (to keep the sound in, not out), and has a beautiful alesis board. His live room is so quiet you can hear the sound getting sucked out of it as you walk in. He's teaching me how to track and mix, and I am teaching him how to shred. I think I am getting the better deal. I don't have any pics, but if you've seen one pro studio setup, that's what he has.

1. I'm a member of Myspace, but if someone is not and tries to view your photos, they won't be able to unless they join. You'd have been better off posting the pics here.

2. The SM57 is not the God of close mics IMO. Great mic and I have a couple myself, but I don't always reach for it when close miking amps, etc.

3. How do you like your ProjectMix? Thought about getting one not long ago.

4. Looks like your studio is coming along nicely. Now it's time for a nice set of monitors!

monitors!

I just ordered these event alp5 active monitors and they look pretty sweet! I also just got an imac duocore with 2 gb ram and I upgraded my kick mic to a beta 52! I am pretty excited! The next thing I want to get is a preamp.

I like the project mix alot! Its a pretty powerful tool. The only weak point (as im sure youve heard) is that the mic pres arent superb. That is why im getting a preamp pretty soon...

Checked your site out...

In these days, having a PC/Mac DAW doesn't have to mean noise. Quit HD drives, quiet fans and cooling make a world of difference - I know because it works for me. Much more power than an all-in-one stand alone. I did own the Roland VS1680 awhile back and it was a nice machine, but when I moved to my PC DAW - WOW! Much more power and MUCH improved sound quality.

Do you think it was smart to remove the fan from the 1680? I'd think that they put it there for a reason.
