I think it's just some tacky name, "American DJ" or something like that.

I guess they feel it wouldn't look right sat atop a stack of Manley, Lavry and Cranesong. :D

American (made in China) DJ (watered down to "kid in basement with cracked software that doesn't know how to use it" - and insult to actual DJ's, but that's what it's come to) Lighting (not only does this unit have no lighting *on* it, but anyone using it for lighting professionally must be pretty desperate - But it makes a great simple power control).

Yes, a big, ugly logo that no one wants to see.

Ah, I see...

Like parking a Hyundai in a garage full of Rollers.

Sort of. Just really ugly stuff.

I remember even on my Art Pro VLA... There's a sexy looking box... Then they ruined it with that big PINK LOGO on the panel...

But then again, my Massenburg EQ's looked like Fisher Price toys and all my Crane Song stuff has green knobs...

I was actually going to pick one of those up a few months ago and the logo swayed my opinion. I thought, "how cool would it be to have individual power control!?.....too bad it looks like bleh" I don't know why it never occured to me to just cover it up.......I never claimed to be all that bright anyway. :D

People have done the same thing with the Peavey VMP-2 and the VC/L-2. Just a find an interesting sticker with the right coverage and apply generously:D Me, I'm not that shy.

I can't really claim credit for the concept -- There's a performing arts facility that I work with a lot -- It was "new gear day" one year (right after the budget goes through) and we were installing a bunch of gear in a bunch of racks... The TD says "Hey - Go over to GC and grab a few of those rack-mounted power-strip thingies with the individual switches" which I did. After we put them in he looked at them and said something to the equivalent of "No, no, no, no... That won't do..." and proceeded to pull them from the racks, taped over the switches with gaffer's tape and sprayed 'em down with flat black high-heat motor paint.

It looked a lot better than tape I suppose...

For a switch bar, a quick repaint job with automotive or appliance enamel would be fine. I don't think I'd do that with a preamp or other real piece of gear.

The eight channels of pres I run into my RME Multiface II. 2 channels Manley Langevin DVC, 2 channels ADK AP-1, 4 channels rebuilt Yamaha PM1000's (nothing beats them on drums  )
Behringer ADA8000 on the bottom for additional channels.

My favorite rack yet, just because it might be the biggest disparity between most and least expensive unit! Plus, I am gay for the RNC.

I'm not sure I know what you mean.

Just jump back a bit in this same thread (Post #56). Others have the same power supply and are fond of taping over the American DJ name. It's no biggie...just ironic that your rack has one right after they were discussing it...

Oh, thanks.:D

For anyone not paying attention... there is the infamous logo of black tape disguise
Thats not a bass amp right. If its not ive never seen anyone with a power amp and a speaker in one enclosure like that.

I have a number of guitar preamps, so I built a combo some what like the Tech 21 power engine combos. It is just a poweramp with a cab. The bottom speaker is powered by the Ampeg two space in the top rack.:)

Here is my rack. Not too impressive I guess, but it does the job for me...

I also have some other 1/3 and 1/2 space stuff that sits on my desk, but didn't bother to take pics of it.

My simple setup

haha you have a server rack in your house?!

That's actually the route I'm going to take, once I get into a place where I have room for it. I almost picked one up off eBay lastyear (local pickup) for $80.00. Wish I'd have got it then, even if it sat in storage since.
