Should I return my second DPM3 for noisy gain pots?

Taking the slow road
The first one also had noisy gain pots but also a busted meter.

I don't imagine I'd be using them during recording, but I might, I guess.

It's now 2 weeks since the original order, with all the shipping.

Anyone else have this problem? I think it's an very recenly manufactured group, there's a date stamped inside the box.

Is this what our forum has deteriorated to? ? ?

:D :D

I bought something that's broken. Should I return it?

Gee, I dunno.

I guess it depends on whether you like broken stuff, or stuff that works.

Hmmm. Let's see ... broken ... not broken ... broken ... not broken.

I just took a MASSIVE dump...a double flusher...do you guys think i should wipe my ass???

I think you should definitely post this one as a poll.
I thought about it but was unsure which forum it should go in.

It could easily be worded so as to fit in just about any forum I suppose.

Example:

I just took a big, steaming dump. Should I :

a) flush
b) wipe
c) buy a microphone. preferably less than $200

Every sound engineer or musician should have a can of electrolube, servisol, multicomp etc. switch/contact cleaner or lubricant for fixing noisy pots. A quick spray is far more desireable than the hassle and or cost of returning it.

In the case of the meter I'd consider returning it.

P.S.

WD40 is a good short to medium term quick fix for noisy pots. A handy hint is the philips electric razor spray seems to be the same as their contact cleaner.and doesa great job on pots.

the weird thing about it is that it is in the same spot on both pots and was in the same spot on the other one I returned. It's so loud on one of the channels that the meter goes up half way while turning it.

Jun, I think your link might be broken, too. I think you meant to hit this one .

These guys love the tough questions. You might even look smart over there.
You really wish you were some kind of an authority, don't you. :) If I go over there, would you promise not to follow me? I bet you go there and bug them too, is there anyone you don't annoy? If they say you don't annoy them, they lie.

I bet you go there and bug them too,

I don't need to. Heck, I could just hang around here all day long and listen to people ask really important questions. "Someone dropped the phone on me today. What a bunch of a-holes. But I called back, and they were nice, so it's okay now."

Gee, thanks for the info. I'll be careful next time I call anyone.

And there's obviously more where that one came from. "I bought something and it's broke. Should I return it? "

Gosh, I don't know, Einstein. My shoe lace just came undone. Should I re-tie it?

is there anyone you don't annoy?

People with multiple brain cells.

But what about my noisy gain pots?

I tested out some mics and it sounded nice. If I send it back, it'll be a return; I'm not exchanging again; they must have a big run of them that are all with the same defect.

Unless anyone has had a similar problem. (thus my reason for this thread :p )

Send it back until you get one that works right. In a capatalist society, we have the right to demand that we get what we pay for! If you don't want noisey pots, you don't have to live with them. Chances are you got a couple bad ones and the next ones will be OK. I haven't heard anyone else with the problem. The DMP3 is raved about. People wouldn't rave if they all had noise.
