Wellll......if that's the case then I'm not sure where I'd fit in either. I don't fit the aforementioned list. I've been playing guitar for the last 42 years (both professionally and not), and had recording studio's in my home since the 80's (yeah even prior to affordable digital). I come here to discuss and see input regarding affordable gear for the studio. Indee I too am not terribly interested in the atmospherically priced gear as I'll never be able to buy it in the first place. I'm always particularly interested in the things that are most dynamic in a studio (mics, preamps and accessories etc.). So I'll just keep hanging out until I don't see those things discussed anymore I guess......

I don’t know what you’re going through or at what crossroads you have found yourself in life, and you’re right, there is no substitute for actual time spent recording, but you know sometimes one has to simply step back, take a break, regroup, refocus, make a plan and execute it. I don’t think anyone would fault anyone else for doing as such, however instead of painting percentage based broad strokes like a revelation of the obvious (Congratulations, you’ve discovered it takes all kinds.) it might be more advantageous to use the worldwide diverse networking available at your fingertips here at HR. For example, there must be at least one member in your area with a studio that you could befriend and ask to sit in on a few sessions for out of the house, away from the computer, “real world” experience. There are also a few professional and semi professional voice over members here as well. And then what of the MP3 clinic? Some folks in bands and others self produced have really decent work, maybe you could ply your talents to make someone an animated music video. A good song keeps ppl watching and a cool toon keeps’em listening. What about those with mid to pro level studios that have web sites or bands that boast an online destination? Perhaps you could explore animated website content. I’m sure there are members here into those areas too. The point is, you’ve invested a year here, are doing something unique and are well liked, but before you write it all off have you truly looked at how to make this site work for you? Have you held a voice talent audition thread? Out of the amount of ppl here there must be a few “Characters.” and what of the writers, story tellers and naturally distorted fucking hilarious nut cases that abound in the cave? It seems there must be ppl that could write funny as hell script content for animated work. I know one member is into radio drama production and a few others have experience in acting. There are many ways to skin that damn cat and some try to think unrealistically BIG and keep dreaming while others think realistically small, but in a million ways and their work gets out there in the world and known. The ppl that “Make it” never relent, never quit and never stop exploring every avenue of opportunity. If you really believe in your toon then neither should you. Finally, take for example Jamfest, a small informal member get-together, with an unrelenting “Ad campaign” (Mister QQ). Jamfest, because of the relentless approach has become an event that draws members from across the nation, from other nations and now probably from the other side of earth! THAT is what networking can do here at HR.com. To walk away from the possibilities of nurturing the many facits of your vision into a success is something I hope you’ll at least reconsider.
