Is there anything wrong with using a Tascam m30 mixer?
I like it and understand it well, but I'm told it isn`t up to par with state of the art mixers anymore.

There is always a nicer mixer out there no matter what you currently have but, the proof is in the listening and ease of use.

I have heard a Good number of your tunes in the clinic and never once heard some type of fault in the sound that could be attributed to the mixer itself. So, from a sound quality angle, I think you are getting acceptable quality from your M30.

If you need more inputs or phantom power for microphones or more complex routing possibilities, then sure, upgrade to maybe the M300 series which comes in an 8, 12 or 20 channel configuration and the B versions will offer phantom power as well. Example; M312B or, M320B.

I own two M312B's and wouldn't sell them for love or money.:)

Cheers!:)

Thanks, It does a good job for me, for what little I do here at home it suffices as a scratchpad rig. Onboard phantom would be nice. I suppose I`ll upgrade on day, no hurry.
