Should I get an Echo Mia or an Audiophile 2496?

Hi.
Im planning to get a new sound card for X Mas, and was wandering what I should get.
Im looking for the one that works best with Cubase SX and Reason.
Which one has the lower latency and performs better?
I just want to record my POD playing along backing tracks.
I have a P3 1000, 256 Mb of Ram, 40 Gb, and Windows XP Pro.
Also what other cards should I consider for that price range?
thx

no, just consider these two. :)

My suggestion, just get either of them and start RECORDING!!! :)

personally, I have the Audiophile2496.

Mia and Audiophile are very similar in sound and quality.....the Mia has balanced 1/4" inputs while the Audiophile has unbalanced RCA's....the Audiophile has Midi in/out and the Mia doesnt.....other than that, very similar.....

I own the MIA, wich I use mostly for recording bass. It sounds great. I do have a very low hiss though, which may be solved with the Audiophile via it's break-out box. My specific hiss may also be generated from the combination of my CHEAP ASS:

cables, bass electronics, hard-drive, power supply fan, monitor, case fan, cpu fan, etc. etc. etc.

The MIA was the most affordable 24/96 card I found though, and for the money I am very happy ($179.00 USD.)

The audiophile doesn't have a breakout box, just some short RCA cables out the rear. Breakout boxes don't really help with noise anyhow unless that's where the converters are located, which doesn't happen until you get into the more expensive gear (Delta 1010, etc).

I agree that you should just get something and go with it! I'd like to try the Mia personally, it looks like a nice card. The audiophile on the other hand, is well-used and you'll get a lot of support from users here.

If you don't need digital ins/outs, I got a new Delta 44 for $199 with free shipping. Thats only $20 more than your looking at and gives you 4 in/outs. Not up and running yet, but I have it:D.
