Should I get a Yamaha 02R or a Mackie Digital 8 Bus?

Which would you buy for use with Logic Audio Platinum v. 6 on a dual 1.25ghz G4 PowerMac?

*Remember that I am not soooo impressed with 96kHz (Yamaha) over the 48kHz (Mackie).

I am mostly concerned with... (in order of importance)
Ease of use
5.1 Surround Sound for producing film sound tracks
Super Sound Quality (i.e GREAT pre-amps)
Helpful Support
Flexibility
Can Control Logic Audio Platinum 6

02R

Hey Man

i have an 02R and absolutely love it.......easy to use ........................but if you're using adats don't forget you need those cards....and there damn expensive.....don't know anything about the mackie....

I Have an 02r and am running Cubase SX 1 but for recording important stuff, vocals guitar, I bypass the desk using a Rhode NTK valve mike and TL Audio 5052 as the preamp with a the digital card installed which links straight to my RME soundcard via digital Coax cable. This Gives me great results and I would allways recommend using a seperate quality preamp. Does anybody know how to use the 02r as a control surface for Cubase SX.

The Mackie Digital 8 buss is a ctually a pretty useful tool. It can also be had for very little nowadays on the used market ($2500 ish). However, the preamps on it are pretty bad. At least nowhere near as Nice as the yamaha DM series preamps and even the O2R. Personally, I would go with the yamaha. Then again, if you took the money you saved on the Mackie and out them into preamps, the Mackie would probably be a better sounding package
