Should I being having this problem???

Pentium IV 3.0 512mb HD 7200 EMU 0404 Cubase
I have been recording with 24/48 with 7ms latency. Never had a problem.

Woke up this morining and my playback is full of crackles and pops!!!
It goes away when I back the latency off to about 20-40ms.

I reloaded drivers for the 0404..no better.
I went through everything I know, which isnt much right now.

Can anybody offer and help??

Do you use a secondary drive for audio, or are you using the C drive?

one drive only right now.
Also, I am not hooked into the internet.

Hmm, not sure. Have you defragged the drive?

maybe check the running processes in the windows process menu.. check to see if something is hogging up your pc resources. well, i guess if you're not hooked up to the internet then you probably don't have virus checking software running.. hmmm....

yes I have defragged....
I got nothing else running in the background either.
