Shotgun Mics

Hi Guys
I currently have access to 6 Sennheiser ME80 shotgun mics which belong to a local theatre group. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have any uses in the studio? There is also 1 little ME20 head which I think is omnidirectional.

Interesting drum sounds can be had using shotguns, pointed at the snare from 5-6 feet away or so...
Also vocals, especially shouters, from a similar distance...
