i just don't know,

i got a pair of TR8 reference monitors

and i'm ashamed to say that i don't know the difference between

reference and nearfield

can it be explained real quick? or are these two words kinda synonyms?

thanx

similar.

near field

mid field

far field

reference is , iguess, a term that describes the fact that they are neutral or something. migth as well said "pro" LOL

ah, found out some more about it

seems like reference means that they give a flat response, thats what we want when buying studio monitors

nearfield means that they are (magnetically?) shielded so you can place them next to your computer screen without destroying it

guess its an unimportant thing, but i just wanted to know :D

No. It's possible to have nearfields that aren't shielded. The term "nearfield" is describing the optimum response area between speaker and listener. Near.
