So I didn't record the guitars (Jeff did them as well) and the background was provided via a guy name Jeff (last name unknown).

The purpose is simply to re amp and try different amps/ amp sims.

If you want to take a crack at it (would love to hear guitar rig 4 clips personally) the zip file with the DI tracks and back ground track can be downloaded here: Rose Of Sharyn DI.zip

Anyhow, some of these sound like crap for sure. No post eq, the guitars are how the amp sims were dialed in. I don't have any presets for amplitube 3 because it was a 2 day demo for those amps.

Cubase stock ampsim and guitar rig 3 free.mp3 (this is terrible, but whatever :laughings:)

Not surprisingly I dug the real amps the most. Would have been cool to not label them at first, to get a blind impression. The others all have a boxy quality IMHO. The Podfarm was my least favorite out of the bunch.

One problem I have with this test is the perceived volume of the guitars. The guitars in the sims clips are all too loud. The real amp clip has the guitars more subdued and it seems more pleasing. I don't know if that's because the real amps just sound better, or they're in the mix better.

It's very possible. Hey Greg, if you have the time you want to do guitar rig? I'm interested in hearing if it does high gain well or not.

I might give it a go. I gotta tell you though, I never use it for "high gain" metal-ish tones, so I might not get results worthy of comparing.

No biggie either way. Even if you said "fuck no killswitch sucks balls" that would have been an ok answer as well. lol

Id fish up some settings to try but they might not translate well.

Well here's a half-hearted attempt in GR4 with some tweaked "Metallica" and "Foo Fighter" (lol) amp presets. I could do better if I really put the time into customizing a combo to suit the music.

Dang, I like that a lot. Any post processing or is that all GR4?

No post processing. No EQ. No compression. Straight GR4. All I did was tweak a few presets and bus the tracks to a group and apply a hint of reverb. It's basically just Rectifiers and Marshalls blended together.
