Hi.
I thinks it a good "hillbilly! song or folk song. There are some offbeat here and there, but that is maybe intensional......
Is sounds like a good "live" song...

Sounds really good to me... kind of reminds me of a laid-back Pogues. There are some occasional timing issues (e.g. the banjo in a couple of places) but they don't really detract. The viola/cello sounds synthesized (was it?) - If so I'd suggest either modulating the volume so that it rises and falls more naturally or better yet overdub a real string part. Nice work!
 
It does now...
The mando intro is a little bright out front. It's still a little loud when cebtred - the version off to the side in the verses work well.
The tambourine is the same.
Good song, good prefromance & recording.
A few tweaks & you'll be there.
 
I hear Rusted Root..but then I am from Pittsburgh..thier hometown. I think the Cello is a bit loud and it muddies it a bit. Nice lyrics..religious if you want them to be...romantic if you see it that way. Watch for that low mids build up in the 300-400 hz area.
