My soundcard shares irq 11 along with the modem and video card. There's also 3 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering in 11 too. I would assume either the video card or soundcard is steered away to an unused irq during recording/playback. But what raised my concern is that my scsi controller card demands and unshared irq for optimal performance (at least this is what Adaptec told me). So if the scsi HD needs an unshared irq I would think a 8 in soundcard at 24 bit would be just as hungry. Am I off here? And why did MS think 15 PCI irq was enough?
