Hi,
I am attempting to record my guitar playing on the computer with an Ibanez JPM P4 guitar hooked up to a Digitech Genesis 3 and then wired into the line in of my sound card, and using the software Acid 3.0. I am having several problems with this.

Problem number 1:
When i pop up the recording window in Acid and play something without recording it has the sound chart which shows the left and right channels and the sound being played on them. The left channel is the only one that really moves like its supposed to, and the right one pops up about 5 millimeteres or so when the left one peaks and thats the only time it does it. The problem might be attributed to the fact that the Genesis 3 has 2 channels of mono output and im using an adapter to make those both into one channel of mono output, then another adapter to make it into a 1/8" stereo wire and plugging that into the computer but im not sure. How can i fix this?

Problem number 2:
This might have to do with problem number one. For the song i am recording i need a nice clean tone. I have gotten a good one and it sounds perfect on headphones or even real-time through the computers speakers as i record it, but once i play back the recording it has a staticy "crunch" when i strum and i cant stand it. This only happens for clean, distortion works fine.

If anyone can help me with these two problems it would be greatly appreciated. Also, what would be an ideal sound card around $200 for this type of recording? Mine is a Creative AudioPCI by the way.

Wow... LOL... once you have a mono signal you can't magically make it stereo again... Why don't you use get a cable that has two 1/4" plugs on one end and a stereo 1/8" on the other?

As for Problem #2, sounds like you have the gain up a tad too high and the soundcard's A/D converters are clipping-- try backing off a bit on the output level of the Genesis.

Re a better card, I've herad many good things about the M Audio Audiophile, but it has no onboard synth.
