OK, I've around $1700 to spare. The setup is finally getting there :D

RME Multiface - $800
2 DMP3's - $220
2 SP C4's - $380

Thats a grand total of..... $1400

Shure SM57 - $50
Shure Beta52A - $190

2 drinks for all the hard work - $1

That leaves $61. I presume the C4's wouldn't be the best addition to the vocal area, so I'm a bit stumped. I guess the thing is to slowly knock off money to get more :) I might be able to muster up an extra $150, but it wouldn't be able to be added to the $61 (complicated reasons). Hmmph

what are you going to record? cause you could use a bass drum mic and a couple of overheads.

Well, drums are included. That's the explanation for C4's, Beta52 and 57, for Overheads, Bass and Snare respectively. Other instruments included acoustic, electric, vocals and piano

I don't feel the want for a particularly cheap microphone, much rather one in the $150-170 range

Well, be a little clearer then. Your thread talked about having 61 dollars left and that you might be able to get some other money but that it wouldn't be able to be added to the 61 dollars.

So what to do with the 61 dollars? That's what I told you. Now you can decide not to buy anything with the 61 dollars rather than suffer the shame of owning a mic that was that inexpensive, but the 57M is a great bargain at that price.

Incidently, its not the "shame" of a cheap mic, rather I'm sure something in the 100-200 range would be better, and may aswell use that.
