Ok I just got an audiophile 2496, now I know theres some setting up to do but I don't know exactly what...
One thing is I can't plug in my headphones to the card, so I am using onboard sound for playback, for MIDI and recording i'm using the audiphile 2496
my setup shure SM57 -> 4track tape recorder -> audiophile2496
My question is, before this when i would plug my 4track into my onboard sounds mic in, the quality was noticeablely better...
Right the level is very low than before compared to a level-noise ratio, the more I want the level to be higher the more noise I'm getting, this wasnt the case before...
Also I believe I am having latency issues, how can i test my card for latency?
I believe its the soundcard casue my computer is fast enough for this kind of simple 1-4 track recording
athlon xp2200, 512MB ddr ram, 2 HDs
