OK ive seen this many times but i cannot figure it out myself so thats when i post here :D my resolution with dual monitors is now 2880 x 900 and i want to set a background that covers the whole thing right! so i found a nice panoramic shot of a mountain (popular choice) and then took her into photoshop and made it 2880 by 900. Now i go to set it as my background expecting it to start on the left monitor and end on the other. However when i so this it just squashes it on both monitors... so now i have two squished mountains!! can have that i want one continious mountain. how do i do this??

i also tried to make two seperate halfs each 1440 by 900 and setting them on the seperate monitors but that didnt work ethier... am i missing something??

Yeah Windows doesn't let you do this, but you can download 3rd party apps that do.. The best one ive used (and currently am using) is called UltraMon

It also puts a taskbar on your other monitor which is something I couldn't do without!

It has other features I like too - like the ability to drag a maximized program between monitors, and the ability to stretch a maximized window across both monitors (kinda pointless because you cant read the middle.. but hey, its nice to have)

Also! It lets you choose 1 wallpaper and it will stretch it between your monitors.. which is what you wanted :D

What video card are you using? Both ATI and nVidia have capability to do the monitor "spanning" you are looking for within their driver control panels. The only caveat is that your taskbar will span across both monitors as well.

mess around with the "position" in your control panel.
Center/stretch/tile...always seems to work for me
