I am currently using a Tascam DP-01FX for tracking and then uploading the recorded tracks into Cubase on my pc. It works well however I was wondering if I would be better getting an interface and recording straight onto Cubase-any ideas?

If your audio files are off the metronome or you are having any issues upon importing, then you should definitely consider purchasing an interface. I'm using a CI1, which works great with Cubase. I wouldn't do it any other way, but whatever works best for you is what counts.

I would definately recommend getting an interface it will make your life easier. Record through the interface straight into your computer without having to import or anything. Make sure you get one with enough inputs to fill your needs.

Thanks, I have not had any issues with uploading the individual tracks as wav files into the project window of cubase after recording on the DP01FX so iguess if it aint broke dont fix it.

Getting an interface would be indeed a more streamlined way of recording. But you are right if it isn't broke don't fix it. :)

I did google to make sure this thing can't be used as an interface using the USB connection but alesis says it can not.

You could also snag yourself some more inputs if/when you do decide to get an recording interface.
