Hi ya every one.

I am very new to home recording. I was bought logic audio gold software sequencer inluding the software sampler and a Mac G4 for xmas. I have at the moment only got one keyboard working. A Panasonic gm midi keyboard. Just basic midi sounds, but it is better than nothing at the moment. Use Midisport 2 x 2 usb interface for the midi. No special soundcard just a normal one that comes with it. Never open it. I was given a behringer eurorack mx602a. I already have dennon double tape deck and cd player plus interegrated stereo amplifier.

Is this right in thinking. I have to get jmono 1/4 jack leads for the mixer? If so does any one now a good place onm line?

How do i connect this all up. To the Mac g4. I do believe my amplifier is not goona be any good because it has the leads that you use on a hi-fi stereo. Red and white for left and right going from cd player/tape deck to amplifier. The keyboard has only midi in and out, aux in and out to use a cd player with and foot switch which is not no good.

I am awaiting for absolute spirit zero speakers.

CS1x is not working - Does any one know any good repair shops in london uk).

I know i am asking alot of questions, it is just that i want to get up and running.

Have a good day every one.

Debbie

Personally, I think you should redo your entire recording system. I would recommend and Alesis ADAT with a Studio 32 mixer, or if your computer is any good, two Delta 1010 Audio Cards with Cakewlak Sonar 2.0XL and TAnnoy Reveal Active Monitors, with the same mixer. This setup should meet your needs for a while, and is fully expandable. It'll run you only a couple thousand(trust me its worth it).

Hmmm.... now THERE'S useful advice - and to "recommend" an Alesis mixer on top of it..........

Jup. And advising a completely new system to someone who just wants to get his stuff 'up and running'...

Let me get this straight, you use your pc as a sequencer and sampler, hooked up with panasonic keyboard via midi, and a cs1x which is borken....

So... You go from your pc to your mixer, from the keyboard's (and cs1x out when it's working) out to the mixer. From the mixer output to the amplifier and monitors. The amplifier will do to start with. You can always upgrade lateron. You can get adapterplugs to connect the cinch (red and white thinie) to the stuff with jacks...

From your pc to your mixer. What soundcard do you have? You'll probably need some special adapter cable for that too... Ain't no place for big jacks in small pc soundcards...

Then, if you want to record all this. Best thing to do (depending on the soundcard you have offcourse) is recording on your G4. For this you take the output of whatever you want to record...
So hook you keyboard to the pc's input. Record it, and playback, mixed with the samples and whatever you recorded before.

Give us some more info to work with... More direct questions maybe....

I dont think Roel has the slightest clue what he's talking about. The Delta 1010 is a very nice soundcard (listed @ $799.99 each), gives you 8 balanced ins and outs, and you can chain upto four together in perfect sync. Im only using two right now, and they work beautifully. In addition to that, it has midi and s/pdif inputs, and wordclock i/o, which can be very useful if you're going to get into film or other things like that.

Don't dis Alesis. Some of their stuff is crap, I admit, but their studio 32 mixer is outstanding! It is cromprable to the Mackie 1604 vlz, if not better for recording, due to the direct outs, AND ins, which the mackie lacks the ins.

Hi Ya

Hi ya Debbie here.

Well, I don't really want to get a new system when it is time and money at the moment to me.

ROEL,

I have a G4 which I run logic sequencer and sampler from.

Synthesizer broken. Looking for repairs on friday am
Panasonic keyboard will do for know, as i only need the keys as i am samplering some samples to do a remix from a friends track.

Leads I s it right in thinking i can come from the keyboard midi in and out to usb interfavce then usb in back of mac.

from panasonic aux socket using adapterplugs (Which i will look into at weekend) to connect the cinch to the mixer with 1/4" phono on other end to go into line in on the mixer (behringer mx602a)

Just basic soundcard in the mac haven't got a special one at moment, as it is all midi (samples).

Looking into a soundcard as well at moment.

I only use my PC for the internet. I never use internet with my mac (Music) I download from a imac so i am very lucky to be able to do this.

Hope i am getting there.

Debbie :-)) Thank you.

Mixer

So i have worked out that using a mini-jack from the back of the G4 to the mixer with 1/4" phono lead.
