I'm currently using IDE RAID and FIREWIRE hd for audio and video recording/editing. I heard about this Serial ATA convertor. Alot of reviews on how good and how fast this thing is. Is this real or just hype? Anybody with experience in using this product? I need to know if there is any significant noticeable difference with SATA compared to IDE RAID and FIREWIRE?

Serial ATA will replace Parallel ATA (IDE like we've known it for very long). Certainly no hype. It will be THE way to connect internal hard drives in the years to come.

From past experience with new technology, I'd wait a little bit before you upgrade to Serial ATA. Right now I believe they are running at ATA/150, correct? When HD's made the jump to ATA/33, people were jumping on the band wagon like crazy, only to have their new purchased become obsolete very quickly with the introduction of ATA/66, and now we are all the way up to ATA/133. So Yes, it will be worth it, but I believe your RAID system will suffice for a little while. I'd wait till the prices come down or it gets faster.
