What does THIS button do?
I didn't really know where to put this, so I posted it here. I am using a firepod that came with Cubase LE, I am looking for some sort of sequencing utility that will help me write simple drum parts, piano, violin, stuff like that, then import it to cubase. I've used fruity loops before but it's kind of difficult to use imo, but I will use it if I have to. I am just looking for alternatives.
Thanks.

What's wrong with Cubase?

How do I just up and add a piano into cubase without actually hooking it up to the inputs and playing the piano?

there is some way to make vst instruments in cubase i think...? but i always use propellerhead's reason. it goes into cubase as a rewire device (they sync together automatically and are designed to wiork together) and is pretty easy to use. if you havent used it before, its worth checking out (depending on what kind of sound you want).

Cubase is a fantastic sequencer and VST was developed specifically for cubase and later adopted by everyone else. If you need to add a piano part and dont have a piano, find a free plugin at http://www.kvraudio.com/ that has what you need then read up on adding midi tracks

as you know cubase has some vsts you should look into midi controllers this way you can use your professional sequence i.e. cubase

add a VST instrument to a midi track...LEs stock instruments I'm not familiar with, and they wont be of the same kind as Reason (especially the drums) as Reason I think is developed more for Electronica and synth, or that wa smy understanding of things. The quality of the sound will depend on the quality of the midi sample

Thanks guys.. I'll do some reading for sure... I didn't really know that's what VST was but I guess I'm an idiot and need to read more... Thanks again!
