I have an old MD421-U-5 that needs some work. Has been well used. Other than the fact that it has scratches and the clip is missing, the EQ wheel on the bottom of the mic is not working anymore. Don't know if this is an easy fix or not, but I'm not going to bother. The mic still has output, just that it's not adjustable anymore. Being an older model, the EQ wheel has the "S" and "M" with three adjustments between them that (if I remember correctly) should click into place, but they don't - the wheel just turns freely between the letters. If anyone is handy with mic repairs, this could be a good deal. I know you can get a new clip at Sweetwater for $30. I'd like to see $125 or so for this mic, but if you think that's out of line, PM me with an offer and I'll either take it or I won't...no harm asking. I'm on the good guys list numerous times. I'll even consider trades for some live gear. I could really use a Hot Spot monitor or I'll even consider another SM58 toward it. Thanks.

I'll try to get pics on tomorrow.

Some pics. Did I mention it wasn't pretty?:o

OK...I've had a little interest but that's all it was. Please make an offer on this as it's literally sitting here doing nothing and I could use the money. Worst that could happen is offer not being agreeable. Thanks.

OK - to update (and bump). Since there was a little interest in this but it waned, and I no longer have a use for this...or a desire to fix...I'm willing to deal. How about $75 shipped to US. Make me an offer, I may just take it. Thanks.

Senn 421

I'll take it free...(I'd pay shipping of course) :D;)

Hell, yeah!

So what eq position is it stuck in? I guess I really don't get it, but if your'e offering a 421 that works perfectly (other than the wheel thingy), i.e., passes signal normally with it's usual signature 421 sound, no crackle & pop, etc., for $75 shipped, then we've got a deal.

As long as it doesn't stink like puke or poop or something.

I'll get on the paypal end of it tomorrow, assuming that's what you want.

Right now I need some sleep. It sounds like I might have to deal with some raccoons right now, though.

Later, gents.

I'll check this thread in the morning.

What does the U-5 mean? It's not some kind of weird specialty version, is it?

Just so I'm not coming off as being dishonest - all I know is that the mic passes signal. I plugged it in recently to test it and it worked. Didn't use a lot of volume. I don't know if it's normal 421 sound or not. I didn't hear crackles or pops but can't claim they won't happen because of the wheel being seemingly disconnected - could that cause some? I do not know what setting it's stuck at.

It does not smell like poop or puke, but isn't pretty.

Honestly, I advertised it as needing work...which I can't do...that's why I figured someone on this board might have the skills to figure it out. If you can't fix mics or want something that's working right away, I wouldn't go with this just to avoid disappointment. But if you want to gamble or can fix mics, I'll give you a better deal as long as you understand it is what it is. Don't want to mislead you.

Crap!

I got involved in something else and completely spaced this!

Let me know if up-fiddler doesn't take it, I'll still give it a go.
