I've heard of a 521 and a 421, but a 21?

I have an opportunity to pick one up dirt cheap - £30 (no idea what that is US$). Is it worth going for?

I don't know much about it, but if you search this site for MD21, there was another thread, where Harvey quoted some info from the Sennheiser website regarding it. I think that it was used in a lot of Broadcast applications. Likely, 30 Pounds is a good deal.

thats the baby. Got it for a few £'s short of 50 in the end.


Tell me if I've been ripped off? Or if they're actually good for anything - i've envisaged Bass drums (I heard the MD421 was good for this). Good or bad idea? What should I expect soundign on brass?

looks like it might be an omni.

try drum overhead, or "heart mic" (a few inches above the bass drum in the middle of the kit). guitar cabs like an EV 635.

might work for bass drum, might not have enough bass...
