Sennheiser e609 hangs??

I've been reading reviews for the Sennheiser e609 because i was thinking of purchasing it. Everyone seems to be saying they like it because it "hangs" and has no need for a mic stand. How is this possible? maybe im not seeing something.. thanks

it comes with a gravity neutralizer, so you just switch that on and it floats. you need the mic cable to tether it in place otherwise somone could bump into it and it could go into orbit! that is what they mean by "hang".

Mine came with a free 20' mic cable that doubles as a noose. Right now mine is swinging lifelessly from the tree branch outside. The stool is still laying on its side after I kicked it out.

It looks like you could hang it nicely in front of a guitar amp.

Yeah, that's the idea. You hang it in front of the cab and it rests against the grill (because it's flat).

For vocals it can be annoying because it bounces off of your lips.

Man, I tried it for several weeks hanging off my forehead but for live stuff when you are running around it will seriously bust your lips up, and plus you get real loud, not loud, real loud, not loud, real loud, not loud... kind of annoying and hard on the compressors.

Its designed to hang off the front of the amp via the cord, in front of the speaker. I use both of mine in exactly that way on a weekly basis.

Good mic for the bux.
