Sending balanced to unbalanced

Ahhh...maybe I'm a loser but can't you just tie the low to ground?
 
Yeah, that usually works. If not, leave the low open.

... all of which you need if you're in a pro situation.
 
Also note that you will lose 6dB of signal level sending a balanced signal to unbalanced.

That is what gets me. That LA 81 might boost the signal but the noise floor is also going to go up with it. If my signal is at a good level with little noise, then I send it to that thing, now all I did was add noise to the signal really. :o I think companies should band together and stop making any equipment without including line level ins when it comes to recording.:D
