Hey, I recorded this a little while ago, thought i'd post it up here to hopefully get a few comment/suggestions...Here's some info about it (also posted to alt.music.4-track, but I didn't get any replies)
The song's called "anything" and it's by a really talented singer/songwriter from around here that one of my friends hooked me up with, he wanted a demo of some of his stuff, so we sat down and recorded 7 songs in an extremely long day
Every track was 1 take only, so there's some minor playing errors, pops (i forgot to take my pop filter with me)
, etc..
The vocals and guitars were done with my Rode NT-1, through some cheapo yamaha mixer that the college here has (my friend works at the college and insisted on using some of their gear...go figure)...For the guitars, the mic was about 2 feet away from him, at about eye level, pointed towards the 12th fret. For the vocals, he was about 12" away, with the mic slightly above his mouth, pointed down at about 45 degrees, trying to avoid as many pops as we could..The room was a huge room @ the college that they use for performances and stuff, it actually sounded pretty decent..
It's a pretty basic track, 2 guitars, lead vocals, and some harmonies...I compressed the vocals a little with the waves compressor, and added a little reverb w/ one of cool edit's reverb plugins..
Any comments/critisisms are more than welcome
