Now, I'm not completely ignorant to this topic, but I just don't know where to start. Where I'm from, a lot of people don't want to pay the prices that I want them to pay for nice beats. I'll play a beat for someone and they be like, "Yo, that's nice as hell. I wanna buy that!" Then I tell them the price and they be like, "Naw man! That's too much!" Cheap Fucks!!! $100 and up is too much??!!! I use the Triton and the Akai MPC2000xl. I spent MONEY on those shits. Is that a harsh price or am I in the wrong zip code? And what I also want to know is how do I really get my name out there? How do I promote myself as a producer? Do I need business cards? How do I make my own web site? Should I sell my beats on MP3.com?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

looking for beats

im always looking for beats(r&B and rap) and if they are tight $300.00 is actually cheap to pay for them to me. if you are still interested in selling them, get at me

Why don't all those hip hoppers make their own beats? I mean really, that wouldn't be good for you, the beat maker/seller, but come on now......

I was propositioned by a few rappers to make beats for them and then I thought about it and decided that I wouldn't do it.....Probably not the best move as far as marketing myself but I really am not about that in the first place.....

It just pisses me off that people don't make their own music no matter what the genre.....I personally am not partial to the whole hip hop / r&b genre and it's not that there aren't good rappers that come up with good ryhmes and beats.....I know there are talented rappers and r&b singers...

On the other hand, there are just so many wannabe's out there and it's just such a fad ............I think alot of rappers are into it more for the "image" that is associated with the music than for the actual music itself....and I think the majority of the hip hop out there reflects that ideaology to the point where hip hop as an art form is beginning to define itself in terms of image more than it is defining itself with the actual musical product...It makes me sick!

Sorry, about the rant I hope no one takes it personal as that it is not intended to be a personal thing..
