Greetings, all

I would like to share "Acting", and I am seeking advice. Have a listen and if you have any comments or suggestions I would love to hear them.

Specifically I would like advice regarding eq/compression on my guitar channels, as I feel this is a weak spot in the current sound.

Also, I am curious what I might do to the master output (aside from the current multiband compression) to give a more professional punch to the mix.

I am using Logic Pro to record/mix.

Thank you!

The bass is a bit boomy and lacks definition. It doesnt blend with the guitars. The whole thing sounds over compressed to me. I think it would sound better just using a loudness/maximizer type plug-in, rather than more/compression.

Most of the guitar playing is tight so kudos on that (matching the double bass or viceversa). I also like the clean first set of guitar parts with the drums (well... then the harsh distorted guitars come in :spank:) At 1:37 it becomes balanced again. Some guitar parts are loud. Turn the rhythm guitars down a bit and/or take some of the higher frequencies off since they sound somewhat harsh. You want to be able to hear the drums more.

IMHO I suggest getting better drum samples when you can. Find some badass samples and tune everything to that, it works itself out.

Also, try a different amp or plugin (whatever you are using) to get a better distortion man.

Sounds too flat and compressed, this should be driving the listener to the wall. The guitars lack body, i.e. mids, they sound too thin. Performance is very good.

Good guitar playing.

The tone on the guitar is very thin and harsh though. There was a bit too much distortion on it too. There's no distinction from one strum to the next.

The drum sounds, especially the snare and cymbals are not real good. The programming is pretty robotic. Some of the panning of the drums was distracting. The drums in the section from about :30 to 1:05 were moving all over the place. It was weird on headphones.

It was limited pretty hard as well.
