i happened to stumble across the most amazing OD pedal over the weekend.

Its pretty much a tubescreamer clone but the opamp is socketed and it comes with 3 different opamps for you to swap and change at will to get your desired sound.

It has also got 3 different modes per chip.

anyway enough babble

theres the product.

I am currently posting my keeley modded ts9 on ebay as this thing absolutely destroys it in terms of tonality natural overdrive and achieving that ultimate tight sound for metal.

The clips on that page are not the most impressive at all i must say but for £20 second hand i couldnt pass it up (think theyre £50 new) i shall post up some clups shortly.

I put a socket in my TS-10, and put a better JRC4558 (a board member here had pulled a few from his nice old console) - you just inspired me to try a few other opamps - thanks!

FWIW, I didn't think the tone in the sound clip sounded very much like SRV's.

aye the clips on there are incredibly terrible. I plan on making some decent ones with my gear and uploading them this coming weekend.

I forget if it was Visual Sound, but someone made an A/B comparison and no one could tell the difference between the 4558 and whatever the replacement was that Ibanez/Maxon used.

As long as you're throwing that there Tube Screamer away, give it a toss in this direction. :D

transcend,

i see what you mean about the op-amps. I have built a few pedals and actually thought about doing something like that. Not a bad little idea on the op-amp switch. i believe the 4558 chip comes in 3 different flavors that would work just fine for a future project. Thanks for the info.
