hello,

I am just about to buy my daw system this week but I figured I might as well pose a question to the board before I do. Here is my situation:

too poor to go mac g4 so I'm going with a pc setup from pricewatch for 600 bucks; 900mghz pIII processor, 256 megs of ram and a 30 gig 7200rpm hd.

I was almost all set to go with the solo ex interface that I put on layaway at guitar center (425. for the floor model) when I started thinking about going with pro tools and the digi 001.

My application is that I want to record my bands demo 4 piece guitar drums vocals and bass and possibly some other people's live music projects. I thought about pro tools because I could always send stuff somewhere else to have it mixed or mastered etc.. But I just read a tidbit that said you can send cubase made stuff to a pro tools studio and they can still manipulate it there?true?

should I save money and get...

A. the seasound solo ex for 425 and use my friends free version of cubase 4?

or

B. spring for the digi 001 package with pro tools.

IF other places can still manipulate programs such as cubase in their pro tools programs then I could save a little money and get a really nice soundcard(the seasound) and work with cubase. I really don't know what to do. My main worry I guess is being able to send material to bigger studios. any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated and sorry if I rambled to long,
