Does anyone here write/play stuff similar to mine? It seems like everyones style is to one side or the other of my own, and I'd like to hear someone with the kind of clean/heavy/clean style that I have and see what kind of tracking and mixes are happening. There may be a few people here that are in the same style of writing as I am, but its hard for me to listen to everyones shit cause I still get online at like 33.6, modem. Yuck.
Anyone?

Paul i like alot of older styles but more the stuff played in pubs as we call them in australia or bars as some know them

i like anything from power pop to detroit style rock and beyond

From the states point of view the stooges and mc5

Australia also produced some killers Bands of their own time but few the world around saw or heard of them a good example from Australia from the past was Radio Birdman they are more known about now then when they first played back in the mid 70,s they even reformed in the mid 90,s and many who never saw the legend first time around got their chance to see them then including me
:-)

power pop outfits like dom mariani,s DM3 from perth australia are another great band who also became legends in their own way the world around but not so much on the big stage which i dont blame them for but its more how things always go with people with talent and not so much exposure

The radio and those who make the hits got it all wrong because they missed so many great moments in histroy while looking for the so called money spinning hits o well its the worlds loss in 30 years my records will still remain fresh potent memories not garage sale items from a time we would rather forget :-)

in closing if anyone remembers the replacements and how they played they did not care they just did their think loud or quirky or soft whatever they had it all

when listening to stuff dont try and look for a comfortable spot for it to sit in your own minds set be open to what you see and hear you never know when your going to see something different or intresting its out there its up to you wether you know where its at :-)

hahah, where'd THAT come from? Almost like you posted to the wrong thread or something! ;)

the feeling about the post is kinda the same paul because while everyone is out doing what they do they usually miss the great stuff that plays in our cities but yes i do see what you mean your post is more about people who play or record the stuff you do i understand its just the enthusiam i felt in your post a left field kinda thing that sort of made me want to just post hehe :)

Hey paul you looked at the mixers specs yet ? :-))))

Paul,
Compared to what I have recorded for Slow Joe Crow. Your recording sounds great. Your tune is a little harder than what they write. Are the drums on your recording canned?
Keep up the good work!!!

Canned!? Canned?! Man, I don't know if I'm offended or not! ;) Actually, I thought they sounded pretty damn good, now I'm iffy...
No they aren't canned. I think my feelings are hurt ;)

Paul,
No offense intended. The drums sound so tight and clear. I must know what mics or triggers did you use. What gear do you use to record with.
I was impressed with the sound.
I didn't mean to hurt your feelers...

I listed everything in the 1st few posts on the thread, so its all there... :)

Man That Rocked !

Dude, I loved that song, and yes, I would ask if the drums were canned because they were soooooo tight. Man, keep the faith.

Sooooo tight how? I'm still not getting the canned issue. Is it THAT bad? I thought they sounded good. I've heard canned drums, and they never sounded like THAT. They always sounded thin and tinny to me. New technology though, I guess. Should I do something different?

GREAT TUNES, TUBE.......

excellent mixes, good dynamics.
guitar tone is nice and saturated, just the right blend of crunchy and smooth......

my stuff isn't exactly like yours, but you might find some similarity....
try "zoom", or "the payment"

INCIDENTALLY........

the drums are totally choice! i believe the implication from silverhammer is nothing short of a compliment on how well the drums were recorded.... they are so clean, so well played, and the eq's on them in the mix sound totally pro. i, on the other hand, have a shitty drum machine, and know it! LOL

Yes, that was a glowing compliment

Gonzo, thanks for clarifiying and stating what I meant. Tubedude, those drums are choice, sweet, and wonderful. I've not heard better, personally, so whoever played those drums, Hurrah. Whoever recorded those drums, Hurrah. Whoever mixed those drums, Hurrah. Man, they don't get better than that, and yes, I really liked the whole song as well. Good work, Silver

I'm diggin it, tube (despite the creed-sounding vocals) ;) It's got a really clean sound -- the drums are very natural but very professional. Good balance all the way around, solid performances, and a cool tune. Love to give you some advice, but I wouldn't know what to tell you -- maybe just post more stuff for us to check... :D

P.S. I don't really know of anyone on this board with a similar sound, though there's a group or two in my area who'd be right up your alley...
