I did the search of threads, and Yamaha's site, still didn't find the answer, so here goes my first post...

A friend has a pair of NS10m's just lying around, I'm sure he'd sell me. They are not ms's or mc's just m's. The nominal wattage is 25 if I remember correctly, and they do not have the grill over the tweeter. I didn't see a date marking anywhere. Two questions...

1) Are these a consumer model produced alongside the current "studio" and "commercial" models, or are they an earlier version before the "studio freebie" and subsequent proliferation days?

2) What is a fair price to pay for these?

Any info would be appreciated. Great BBS, a lot of knowledge being shared. I'm looking forward to participating.

they were the original ns10s before the ms. THe only difference is that you need to put tissue on the woofer.

THey would make a good reference is you can buy them for cheap

Thanks for the info. Is $40 ripping him off? (His idea not mine). Basically, is the resale comparable to the "ms" if I just can't tweak the tissue to a sound I can work with.

One last question, would Puffs tissue do the job? Or should I drive up to Westlake and steal one from their back room to really get that high end sound? :D

Just make sure the Puffs are colored GREEN... ;)

But wait...as a newbie you won't get it - long story...
