SE Electronics is the house brand of Shanghai Feilo, the nice folks that make the MXL2001, V67, and a few others. The SE1000 is about identical to the MXL2001, more or less. I'd hazard it's a safe mic to ignore.
OTOH, if you buy something from bayview and they toss it in for free, what the heck. You can have some fun with a soldering iron......hehehehe
I was just wondering because I'm getting an omni studio and I can either pay 390 at 8th street or I can spend an extra 60 bucks (tax) and get it at Bayview and get the mike for free. Just wondering if it was worth the extra 60 bucks.

B3nut is close, but the V67G is made by 797. I think the V67M MARS is selling exclusively is made by Fielo, so that is why that model is so innexpensive and the low price. I am not saying it is bad, but they can't sell the V67G for that price.
Fo the extra $60.00, you may want to add another $19.00 and look at the Studio Projects B1 over the SE1000. The B1 is better built and would last longer. That mike is two weeks away from landing in the stores, so something to think about anyway.
I just got one with my order from Bayview. It aint exactly crap, but it's not that great either. For free or even for a hundred bucks it's a pretty good mic.

Hmmmm! That's odd...the V67G Harv dissected had what looked for all the world like a Shanghai capsule, and the PCB's looked like the typcial Shanghai boards. My 2001 and V67M are identical guts-wise...
Wierd.
But if the *good* V67G is a 797 mike, that could explain why my V67M didn't really sound any better than the 2001 that I had. The box my V67M came in has the black, silver, and green/gold colors shown on it...
Oh well. As Bruce Cockburn says...you pay your money and you take your chance....

I have the SE5000 tube mic and I still havent decided if i like it yet. It sounds pretty good on acoustic but I'm not knocked out with my vocals on it. Of course the fact that I suck as a singer may have something to do with that. What mic makes you sing on key?
