SE How do I set buffer and make it stay? IM new

My buffer is at the bottom. I have too much noise. I open m-audio on control.

I move it up from 128 to 1042 but when I launch pro tools it goes back down. How do i set and make it stay.

Sorry JDR; I do not know.

I opened a PT session. Bufer was set to 256 so I changed it to 1024 and quit without saving.
When I re-opened PT, it was set to 1024.

I also had this problem, you may have installed and connected your m-audio device before installing pro tools. I fixed it by uninstalling pro tools and the m-audio device, disconnecting it from computer then reinstalling pro tools. After that install and connect m-audio device and it should solve your problem, .
